Parte 2 : N1708006_Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has strongly rejected U.S. accusations of unfair trade_part2 Wekfest New Jersey 2026: A Deep Dive into the Premier Showcase of Honda Excellence Wekfest has cemented its status as a benchmark in the global tuning landscape, a platform where enthusiasts and builders converge to celebrate the pinnacle of JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) and import culture. Since its inception in 2008 by Kenneth Li, the event has evolved into a cultural institution, known for attracting some of the most exceptional and precisely engineered automotive creations. This year’s installment in New Jersey marked a discernible inflection point in the show’s trajectory, with modified Hondas taking center stage, dominating the floor with their sheer variety and the unwavering commitment of their owners. As an industry veteran with over a decade immersed in the automotive scene, navigating the Wekfest New Jersey stage felt like a journey through my own history with the brand. The showcase this year was more than just a collection of vehicles; it was a testament to the enduring legacy of Honda, a brand synonymous with innovation, reliability, and a profound connection with its enthusiast base. In this comprehensive exploration, we delve into the standout examples that defined this premier event, from iconic icons reimagined to unexpected gems that pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. The Acura NSX: A Masterpiece of Modern Engineering Among the array of Japanese performance icons at Wekfest 2026, the 1992 Acura NSX owned by Marby Enriquez emerged as a standout masterpiece. Since acquiring the car in 2014, Enriquez has dedicated himself to transforming this legendary mid-engine sports car into a high-performance time attack machine. While the NSX is renowned for its factory elegance and balance, this build represents a comprehensive evolution aimed at maximizing both performance and aesthetic impact. The vehicle features a striking blue wrap that immediately grabs the attention of onlookers, but the modifications extend far beyond a cosmetic refresh. A classic Comptech Whipple supercharger, a Walbro 255 fuel pump, and a snorkel intake inspired by the Japan-exclusive NSX-R GT are fitted to significantly boost power. The inclusion of a carbon-fiber hood and a functional scoop ensures cool air is channeled directly to the engine, enhancing performance. The engineering prowess continues with a comprehensive suspension upgrade, featuring KW Clubsport coil-overs, titanium chassis bracing, Volk Racing TE37 wheels, and Toyo Proxes R888R tires. Stopping power is provided by StopTech brakes with Hawk pads, all contributing to a car that looks and feels purpose-built. A large Voltex Type 4/5 GT wing ensures high-speed stability on the track. Though the car has undergone further enhancements since its 2020 magazine feature, including a shift to white wheels and a subtler front spoiler, Enriquez’s NSX remains a stunning example of precision and craftsmanship. It serves as a benchmark for how the modified Honda NSX can be transformed into a track-ready machine without compromising its iconic design. The build underscores the dedication required to engineer these vehicles, as evidenced by the 380 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque recorded at the wheels—a testament to the power and performance capabilities of the JDM Honda legend.
The N-BOX: A Statement of Unconventional Excellence Wekfest has always been defined by diversity, and the presence of the Honda N-BOX perfectly illustrates this ethos. While most attendees focus on high-performance sports cars and tuner sedans, this minivan-inspired vehicle stands out as a testament to the creativity that thrives within the JDM car community. The N-BOX represents the pinnacle of the kei car culture in Japan, vehicles that adhere to strict size and engine regulations, with displacements typically capped around 660cc. This particular N-BOX, finished in the sportier Custom trim, fully embraces its boxy, minivan-inspired silhouette, creating a unique blend of practicality and character. The assertive front fascia and overall design are reminiscent of Honda’s earlier Element. A striking detail that captured attention was the license plate reading “K24 NA.” Whether the owner truly managed to swap Honda’s 2.4-liter K24 inline-four engine—nearly four times larger than the stock N-BOX powertrain—under its hood remains unknown, but the car stood out as a uniquely Japanese creation showcased on American soil. In a show dominated by performance-oriented modified Honda models, the N-BOX serves as a reminder that enthusiasm comes in all forms. This highlights the diversity and creativity that define Wekfest. Alongside this distinctive vehicle were other unexpected builds, including a lowered Element with a blue interior and an oversized rear speaker, as well as a pair of modified Acura MDXs, which are rare sights that underscored the broad range of modified models on display. The inclusion of such unique vehicles demonstrates the depth of the import car culture and the passion that enthusiasts bring to every build, regardless of the car’s original purpose. The Acura MDX: A Luxury SUV Reimagined The automotive industry is increasingly defined by the convergence of performance and luxury, and the Acura MDX exemplifies this trend. At Wekfest 2026, the presence of modified Acura MDXs underscored the evolving landscape of the import car culture and the broadening appeal of Honda and Acura vehicles. These rare builds highlight the versatility of these platforms, which have become increasingly popular among enthusiasts looking to modify vehicles that balance performance with everyday practicality. The Acura MDX has long been recognized as a premium luxury SUV, but modifications like those featured at Wekfest showcase the vehicle’s potential as a high-performance machine. These builds typically involve comprehensive suspension upgrades, performance-tuned engines, and aggressive aerodynamic enhancements that transform the family SUV into a track-ready vehicle. The dedication of owners who undertake these projects speaks to the evolving preferences of the enthusiast community, as drivers increasingly seek out vehicles that can deliver both performance and luxury in a single package. The modification of luxury SUVs like the Acura MDX represents a significant shift in the automotive landscape. As the demand for high-performance SUVs continues to grow, we are seeing more owners investing in comprehensive modifications to enhance both the performance and aesthetic appeal of these vehicles. This trend is particularly evident in the JDM car culture, where enthusiasts are increasingly incorporating modified Hondas and Acuras into their builds. The presence of such unique vehicles at Wekfest 2026 underscores the evolving nature of the enthusiast community and the growing demand for high-performance luxury SUVs that can deliver both performance and practicality.
The S2000: A Precision Engineering Showcase The Acura S2000 has long been celebrated as one of the finest examples of Honda’s engineering prowess, and its presence at Wekfest 2026 reaffirmed its status as a benchmark for precision and purpose. This specific example represents a build executed with remarkable attention to detail, showcasing a curated selection of components from Mugen, ASM, and HKS, crowned by a distinctive Jun valve cover. Under the hood, the F22 engine has been enhanced with carefully selected upgrades that balance performance with aesthetics. The meticulous approach extends beyond the engine bay, with the car riding on Advan wheels and featuring Renegade brakes and a Voltex rear wing. The interior is equally impressive, featuring an ASM steering wheel, which perfectly complements the overall aesthetic of the build. Among the many modified Hondas featured at the show, this S2000 stood out as one of the most complete and cohesive builds. It exemplifies the attention to detail required to create these exceptional vehicles, a machine that would feel equally at home on a Tokyo Auto Salon display stand as it would be carving up a circuit. This build serves as a benchmark for the Honda performance and highlights the dedication of enthusiasts who strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible with these iconic vehicles. Other visual highlights included scale model cars displayed in front of their full-size counterparts and a liveried-up Motocompacto electric scooter parked beside a sixth-generation Civic. The Civic, featuring an original 1960s Honda emblem on its rear—the same wide-top “H” design that inspired the brand’s new 0 Series EV logo—added a unique touch of historical context to the showcase. These elements underscored the depth and diversity of the JDM car culture and the passion that enthusiasts bring to every build. The presence of such unique creations demonstrates that while performance is a driving force, import car culture is also defined by creativity, ingenuity, and a deep appreciation for automotive heritage. The Civic Type R & Mugen RR: Where Precision Meets Rarity The Wekfest floor showcased a range of performance-oriented modified Honda models, but the pairing of the FD2 Civic Type R and the Mugen RR stole the spotlight. These two vehicles, positioned near the far end of the event, represent the pinnacle of Honda’s performance engineering and the dedication of enthusiasts who strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible with these iconic models.
The FD2 Civic Type R, finished in Championship White, is already a coveted vehicle, but alongside it sat something even rarer: the Mugen RR. Regarded as the ultimate Type R, the Mugen RR is a true masterpiece of engineering that embodies Honda’s passion for performance. All 300 units sold out within approximately 10 minutes, with 299 remaining in Japan and a single car exported to Malaysia. This example was later imported to the U.S. and features Mugen camshafts, ECU tuning, and an upgraded exhaust, bringing output to 237 hp. Carbon-fiber bumpers, an aluminum hood, and the signature 18-inch Mugen wheels reduce weight and sharpen performance across the board.
